Mr Boyd returned home from Wellington last Tuesday, and his many friencis wili be pleased to hear that he is slowly regaining his health. ihere v,as quite a number of residents left here yesterday to go on holiday tours.—Mrs and Miss ivlcKenzie and Mrs Pcrrv went to Napier by the express, where they intend to spend a fortnight's holiday.—Mr and Mrs Judd loft for Stratford and Mrs Williams also left for Napier. . Mr F. Burns, who has lately sold his property, together with Mrs liurns and family left lor Hastings to-day. Of late years Hastings has attracted a, number of Tokomaru's old residents, no less than six having taken up farms there. There was a large attendance at a public meeting on. VVednesday evening, convened to organise a sports club here. Mr Trelawny was elected chairman, and gave an appropriate speech on how euch clubs should be managed. The following were elected a general committee-: Messrs D. Thompson, 0. Larson, H. Liggins. T. Parr, \V. Judd, W. Parr, F. Hawkins, G. Boyd, S. Thompson, E. Thompson, T. Bovd, junr., V. Wilton, E. Rowlands, jum", It. Stewart, W. Fancy, Watson. V. Borquist, W. Canton, J. Murray, H. Smith, E. Moody, J. Galbraith, A. Symes, A. Thompson, S. Liggins, F. Mcßae, G. Judd, R. Dawson, A. Boote, A. McGregor, E. E. Thompson, J. E. Griffiths (secretary), and It. W. Guy (treasurer). Tho membership fee was fixed at 5s per annum. Messrs D. Thompson, Larsen, Mcßae. Canton, Trelawny, secretary and treasurer were appointed a programme committee. A general committee mooting will be held in tho hall on Thursday, when it is hoped all committee men will attend.

Quite a sensation was caused here the other afternoon when Mr Stokes' haystack caught fire. A gale was blowing at the time, and in spite of the efforts of a. large bucket brigade they were unable to save it.

Mr J. Liggins. had the misfortune to lose a valuable horse on Wednesday. It appears it was feeding close to a deep drain when the ground gave way. When found it was in a very low condition and oied while- being rescued.
