THE CROPS.
(Per Press Association.}
WANGANUI, Feb. 5.
The wheat crops in this district have been affected by the wet weather in a similar way to the southern crops and are not expected to turn out as well as usual. Oats are reported to be suffering from attacks of caterpillars. Though the birds are doing great slaughter among, tho pests they do not seem to be able to hold them entirely in check. On the other hand the weather has been extremely favourable for the dairy industry, grass showing a prolific growth. The weather is favourable now for harvesting.
