SYDNEY MAN STABBED

ALLEGED INTIMIDATION

(Br Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Per Press Association.) SYDNEY, April 27. W. N. Willis, a leading figure m the late land scandals, was found stabbed in the scrub near Randwick at about midnight. The affair only leaked out this afternoon. Willis was alive but unconscious. He had two wounds in the left breast. Clark, trainer for Willis, states that Willis was at/his cottage last night and left there late,-in cheerful spirits. He was found by a hand and conveyed to the cottage. Foul play was not suspected by those at the cottage, and medical aid was not considered necessary till later, when Willis became delirious. It was then discovered that he had been stabbed. . The affair is mysterious. Willis was to have appeared in Court to-day in connection with a.case in which a man named Daley was charged with attempting to extort money from Willis. _ The Judge ordered Willis to show cause for failing to appear on his subpoena. Later on news of the tragedy leaked out. Received April 28, 8.35 a.m. SYDNEY, April 28.

In connection with the Willis mystery a well-known lawyer engaged m the defence of Daley in the alleged extortion case received an anonymous and threatening letter. Amongst the warnings it was stated that there was a strong push against him. The lawyer ignored the letter.
