GOLF.
The opening of the golf season took place at Hokowhitu on Saturday, when the mixed foursomeg for presented by Barraud and Abraham wej'e played.-. Keen interest was shown in the players, and some good cards were returned, especially for the opening game of the season. ' Handicaps' panned out well, players being brought well together, as will be noticed by a perusal of the scores. Barraud, who was playing a good game last season, has evidently retained form, Saturday's "match falling to him and his partner, Miss S. It is doubtful if a finer lot of golf clubs has ever been landed in the Dominion than those just unpacked by Messrs Barraud and Abraham, Ltd. j There are a splendid assortment of iron clubs of all sorts from the famous American maker, McGregor, of Ohio, and a remarkably fine, lot of wooden clubs from Messrs Butcliardt and Co.,' Surrey. The firm also have imported a lot of caddy bags, including a very light and very strong bag (a new patent),-and the balls for sale include the "Kite,'.' the "Baby Kite.'' and the " Colonel." All golfers should certainly inspect the clubs.
