SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.
CLOSE OF THE CONVENTION,
The Sunday School Teachers' Convention concluded its extremely successful meetings on Sunday and yesterday. Sunday's deluge interfered with the combined Sunday School meeting in the Presbyterian Church, but there was nevertheless a large attendance to hear the Rev. D. Hird, M.A., address the scholars on the value of S,abbath observance. . In the evening a* combined sacramental service was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church,, and a large number of delegates and local teachers were present, when the Rev. I. Jolly, M.A., gave a very impressive address. Yesterday morning the delegates were taken round the country for a drive, and the outing was thoroughly enjoyed by all. At the concluding session a short address was given by Mr L. Faulkner, President of the Auckland Union, who made .several practical proposals for the purpose of extending the usefulness of the Unions in New Zealand. The meeting passed a resolution affirming the desirability of forming an association of the various Unions: The meeting alsio decided to recommend the executive of; the Wel- ; lington Union to investigate the possibility of founding a depot for literature on the lines of .the one conducted by the Auckland Union. The secretary announced that an invitation had been received from Masterton to hold a convention there next year. It was unanimously resolved to accept the invitation. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Palmerston friends for their generous hospitality. The secretary stated that the convention had been one of the most successful yet held, and complimented the Palmerston committee on the completeness of the arrangements,. everything having gone without a hitch.
