THE MINING DIFFICULTY.
CPeb Press Association.)
HTJNTLEY, January 21. The trouble at Huntley is still unsettled. To-day's proceedings have been quiet, the only excitement being a procession through the streets. Apparently nothing is to be done until the arrival to-morrow night of the Minister for Mines. In the meantime the Taupiri Company is preparing for a. lengthy period of inaction. It is stated that a minority is in favour of returning to w6rk 3 and that the minority is growing. The representatives of the Auckland Trades and-Labour Council and Waterside Workers' Union arrived in. Huntley to-night, and had a conference with the Miners' Union executive. The result of the same was withheld from the press. WESTPORT, January 22. Hours of work under the bank to bank law have been mutually arranged in a satisfactory manner between the management of the Westport Coal Company and representatives of tne Denniston Miners' Union. The relations between the Company and its employers at Denniston and Gramty are of the most amicable character. No date has yet been fixed for the introduction of the medical examination at the Stockton Company's Ngakawau Colliery.
