The weather ia fine for the first day of the Foxton races, and the attendance is large, including a big contingent from Palmerston North. The going is good, but the dryness of the grass indicates that less rain has been experienced here than in other parts of the district during the month.- Results: — Hack Hurdles.—Coy, 1; Whimper, 2-; Reumac, 3. Scratched: Maidi, Scenery, Lothair. Coy took charge half a mile from home, and won easily by a length and a-half, a head separating the second and third horses. Don Carlos fell. Time, 2min 53sec. Electric Hack Handicap.—Mendip, 1; Waitoto, 2; Buoyant, 3. All started. Won on the post by a neck, half a length separating second and third horses. Time, lmin 16 2-5 sec. Foxton Cup.—White Star 1, Kilmarnock 2, Roosevelt 3. Scratched: Flotilla. White Star led all the way and won easily by a length and a. half. Roosevelt was beaten by a head for second place. Time, 2.10. Trial Hack Handicap.—Castighone 1, Clemora 2, Leolanter 3. Scratched: Nolens, Emma, Aravore, Waipuni and Marton. Won by half a head, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.17 2-5.

(Peb Feess Association.) TRENTHAM, January 22. The weather is- fine, and the attendance large. The track is in excellent order. Mungaroa Welter.—Osiris, 1; Aberbrothock, 2; Tauira, 3. All started. Won comfortably by a length. Time, lmin 31sec.

January Welter.—Vasa 1, Bourrasque 2, Valdimir 3. All started. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.42 4-5. "Stakes.—Theodore 1, Broadsword 2. Werriwa 3. Scratched: Killwinning and Aema. Theodore led all the way, winning easily by two lengths. Time, 1.2 1-5.
