LABOUR TROUBLES.
(By Electeio Telegraph—Copybiqht.) (Peb Pbess Association.) Received January 22, 9.42 a.m. SYDNEY, January 22. The Labour Council had an unfinished discussion of a resolution modifying the previously-adopted general strike motion. The new resolution proposes that no union shall order members to cease work or take any' action calculated to involve affiliated unions in industrial trouble without first affording the Council an opportunity of investigating with a view to securing a peaceful settlement where practicable. It was explained that the intention was to prevent unions prematurely commencing a strike before consulting the Council, and then coming to the Council for financial assistance. The Council has despatched two delegates to Broken Hill to investigate the trouble with a view to future action.
