WOODLANDS HUNT CLUB'S STEEPLECHASE MEETING.

The Woodlands Hunt Club will hold its annual steeplechase meeting on the Pahiatua racecourse on Wednesday next, sth. All races will bo run on the course proper. The programme contains four hunters' races, one maiden race and two hack handicaps. The Railway Department; arc issuing excursion tickets to Pahiatua by the trains leaving Palmerston, Dannevirke, Masterton and intermediate stations on Wednesday. There are 102 nominations for th>: seven races, and I am informed thai all the competitors in race No. 4 are considered certain winners, and that the race will be contested inch by inch. As the trophies won are to bo presented to winners after the ra-co, many of the horses are now receiving education to prepare them for the presentation. The stewards are gentlemen who have had experience as stewards of larger race meetings, so owners and the public can depend ,on the meeting being well conducted. Given fine weather, the races on Wednesday should prove very interesting.
