(( To-day's New Zealand Times says:-— " The Wellington Boxing Association appeared last evening to be quite satisfied with the assurances of the Manawatu [ Association with regard to its precautions against being imposed upon by professional boxers, ; whe* desired to get off " fake" niatchcs. Alet of correspondence was read, beginning- with the warning sent by the Council from Christi church to tho Wellington Association,, t asking it to do its utmost to prevent, this sort of thing, particularly in view of the known fact that manv real and alleged professional boxers had lately come across to the Dominion from Australia. The Wellington Association: wrote to Manawatu. pointing out that it. was necessary under the rules that tho programmes of all boxing tournaments should be approved by the Wellington Association; that tho latter body wasanxious to work in with the affiliated body in every possible way, and onlydesired to prevent the introduction of any irregularity which might be detrimental later on. The secretary stated that the secretary of tho Manawatu Association had assured him that tb«" would use the utmost vigilance to [ e vent crooked" boxing, and Mr Cofi in turn,'' assured him that the Wellington Association had overv confidence the affiliated body, and meant no reflection upon its management. In this the committcc quite concurred." The Manawatu, programme was endorsed by the Wellington Centre.
