Per Press Association,: AUCKLAND, Mazsh 25. Mr Kettle, S.M.v -in ;fwinig an ilungarian named C. Jaksie fot selling' soft drinks on Sunday, considered that soft drinks were a- necessity, but said he must administer the law as lie found, it. Defendant was fined £1 with costs. A magisterial enquiry into the collision between the Union Wairuna and the scow Moonah3*ln which the latter was sunk and one man drott'ned, was opened to-day before Mr Kettle, S.M., Captain J. Adamson, and Mr G. McKcnzio. assessors. It. was stated that Captain Do Silva, .master of the scow, and a sailor are still in the hospital. The case was adjourned to April Bth, when it. will be arranged for the Wairuna's officers to be present and give evidence. DUNEDIN, March 25.
