SECOND EDITION. FIRE IN OAMARU.
Per Press Association. OAMARU, March 25. A fire broke out early this morning, completely destroying W. H. Isdale's Federal cycle works in Thames Street. The flames obtained a very strong hold before the brigade arrived. Considerable difficulty was experienced in preventing it spreading to the adjoining premises of Gresham and Watson (auctioneers), and B. Emslie (tobacconist). The stock of the two latter was much damaged by and removal. The insurance on the building owned by James Emslie was £800, on Isdale's portion £375, Gresham and "Watson's £225, B. Emslie's £175, an outhouse £25. Isdale's stock and plant was insured for £750 in the Alliance; Gresham and Watson's stock £100 in the State Office. There was [ no insurance on B. Emslie's stock. I Isdale estimates _ his loss at nearly j £500 above the insurance.
