(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Monday. The tennis season is rapidly drawing to a close, but despite Saturday's wintry weather, the game was carried on with vigour* on the local courts. There still remains a few tournament, matches to complete. The annual harvest thanksgiving service in connection with the Anglican Church will be held on Sunday next, when the Rev. Stealey will officiate. The church is to be decorated as usual with flowers and fruits. tA a meeting of the Hui Mai (ladies) Hockey club 011 Saturday night, the following officers were elected: —President, Mrs \y. E. Bevan, senr.; vice-presidents, .Mesdaines Stopford, Boulton, R .and E. Bevan, C. Nees, and Moorhouse; captain, Miss Stopford; vice-captain, Miss Cook; lion, seccrtary, Miss Edhouse. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr Bevan for the use of the ground last season; to Messrs Howie and Stopford for presentations; to Mr W. Bevan for use of hall.

Mr Jameson, of Levin, met with a painful accident on Friday, when he lost the tips of four fingers through having the misfortune to get them in a planing machine. Football here is at a low ebb, and an effort is to be made to amalgamate the two local club;*.
