FIRE.
Per Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 18. -Shortly after one o'clock this morning a two-storey house, owned by the Hampstead Town Board, and occupied by Misses Fawcett, was", with its contents, totally destroyed by fire. The fire was due to the flame of a lamp carried by one of the occupants catching the drapery in the hall. The occupants, who had only time to leave the premises, were not able to save any furniture or personal effects. The brigade attended the fire, but owing to the defective water supply were unable to render much assistance.
