THE SYDNEY STRIKE.
PREMIER PROMISES ASSISTANCE. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Per Press Association. SYDNEY, xvlarch 17. Representatives of the three coastal shipping companies principally affected by tho strike of wharf labourers waited on the Premier, Mr Wade, to-day, and stated that they wore unable to carry on business because mob rule prevailed all round the wharves. They expressed a hope that the Premier would be able to place the dispute before a competent tribunal for settlement. Mr Wade promised to do all he could in the matter. The strikers are actively engaged in picketing tho wharves to prevent nonunionists from working, and the police force has been strengthened at the points whore most trouble appears imminent.
