AUCKLAND, March 16. Just as the steamer Den of Ruthven was leaving Suva, it was reported that a sugar planter hud neon murdered by coolies with a knife. ."The name of the murdered ,man cannot he definitely ascertained, but- it is said to resemble Rowlev. AUCKLAND. March 16. A seven-roomed house in Aritey Road. Remiie.ra, owned bv Mr Coles and occupied by Mr Malcolm Fleming, was totally destroyed by fire on Saturday. It was insured for £300 in the Sun Office. The. furniture was uninsured. A fire occurred early on Sunday morning at. the residence of Mr Leo Myers, occupied by Mr J. Mills. Collector of Customs. The brigade confined the fire to the front portion of the house, in which were a quantity of goods belong- . ing to Mr and Mrs Myers, stored prior to their departure for England. The damage is estimated at £2000. The house was insured for £2000, and the furniture was insured in the same office.
