ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

To-morrow the district will celpbrate St. Patrick's Day in fully approved style, sports meetings taking place at Oroua Bridge, Awahuri and Pohangina, while on the following day St. Patrick's Association will hold sports in Palmerston. , j OROUA BRIDGE SPORTS. To-morrow the annual meeting of the Oroua Bridge Sports Association will bo held in Mr H. Larkins' paddock. This year the programme is entirely composed of horse events, including a couple of trotting races. Entries for each event close with the secretary half-an-hour before starting time. The chief event of the day is the Cup, of 20 eovs, with a sweepstake of 10 shillings added, 1| miles, and the next the Rangiotu Handicap, 6 furlongs, 7 sovs, with a sweepstake of ss. Two pony races are included in the programme, and also a Ladies' Bracelet, first- prize being valued at 5 sovs. Bookmakers will be licensed at a fee of £2 2s and will be required to make a deposit of £5. In the evening a social and dance will be held.

AWAHURI. / The veterans who have successfully managed the Awahuri sports for several years past have made all arrangements for to-morrow's fixture and only require fine weather to ensure success. The programme drawn up is attractive and the club has every prospect of eclipsing its own previous healthy records. Woodfield's drags from town will leave for the grounds at convenient hours. POHANGINA SPORTS.

The tenth annual sports gathering of the Pohangina Sports Association will be held in Mr J. O. Russell's paddock at Raumai on Tuesday also, the first event Commencing at 11 a.m. A well diversified programme has been drawn up, comprising pedestrian, trotting, racing and jumping events, substantial prizes being awarded in each instance. There is also a ladies' driving competition. An excellent course has been prepared and the committee has made full and complete arrangements for the gathering. In the evening a dance will be held at the Pohangina- Hall.
