PRESBYTERY OF WAHGANUI.

The Wanganui Presbytery met -at Marton on 12th February, There were present—Revs. J. Budd (Moderator), R. M. Ryburn, B. Hutson, R. McCully, D. Gordon, E. Evans, J. B. Hall, J .Gunn, J. Ross, L Jolly, A. Morton, and Messrs J. Wilson, P. Bell, A. Thomson, E. Bishop, T. G. Graham, J. MacFariand, J. Fraser and A. McDonald, elders. Revs. Ross and Gordon were appointed a committee to draw up a memorial minute anent tho death of Rev. J. Duncan. Mr Heron, a student who has been working in Hunterville district, and Mr Graham, missionary, from Hunterville, were weloomed by the Moderator. The Presbytory recorded its sympathy with Rev,. E. Evans, of Bulls, in the death of a member of his family. An application was received from Mr John Ross, student, for a Presbytery certificate, with a view to entering the theological hall. Messrs Ryburn, Hutson, Morion and their elders were appointed a committee with power to deal with this request. Rev. McCully reported that tho Summer School at Turakina had in all respects been a success. There was, however, & debit balance of £9. The students passed the following resolution: —'*We, the Home Missionaries assemblod jft Turakina, desire to express , our deep gratitude to the Presbytory of Wanganui for its thoughtful, kind consideration of our needs in arranging this Sumer School. It has been to us a time of great profit to soul, mind, and body. We sincerely hope it may be possible to make the School an annual institution, and eventually to extend its benefits to all Home Missionaries and agents in New Zealand, though how this may be best accomplished we do not presume to say." Revs. McCully, Hutson, Gordon, Evane and Jolly with their elders were appointed a committee to deal with the. future of tho School, Mr McCully, Turakina, convenor.

A committee was appointed to consider the plans for a new church at Wanganui East. Reports were received from Raetihi, Main Trunk Line, T&ihape, Rewa, Halcombe, Pohangina, Kimboltori, Levin and Foxton, all of which were generally I satisfactory. • . . . :' Messrs jßyburn and Morton were appointed delegates to the Presbytery of Taranaki to confer regarding boundaries. Messrs Ryburn and, Gordon to visit Turakina; Jolly and Budd, Bulls; Evans and McCully, Fordell; Hutson and Gunn, St. Andrew's and St. Paul's. The Presbytery met as a Maori Mission Committee, Rev. R. M.' Ryburn convenor. The report of the executive was read. Mr Chisholm's tender for erecting a cottage'for MrsPauiamati, at Tokaanu, bo approved of. —Tender £135.Miss Spence ' (Sister Allison) has been' seriously ill,, but is now convalescent and able to do work again.

A horse, dog-cart and harness have been purchased for the Turakina Maori Girls' School. The girls" of the school have helped to pay for the trap. They also raised sufficient funds to pay for the annual prizes. Tonga-Rangihuea, a gold-medallist of the school, has been appointed assistant to Mrs Hamilton. Rev. J- Ross has been asked to draw up a syllabus for Bible lessons for the year. A letter from Rev. J. E. Ward, of Taumaranui, reported by letter a splendid forward movement among his people in favour of Christianity The Gisborne Auxiliary of the B. and F. Society have agreed to employ Monfries as a Colporteur for three months. The Presbytery meets next on'.the first Tuesday of April.
