ODDFELLOWSHIP.

Tho half-yearly meeting of the Wanganui District 1.0.0. F., M.U., at Foxton last night, was opened by Prov. G.M. Bro. Thurgood, who referred to tho fact that by the courtesy of the Loyal Foxton Lodge they were assembled. , A now Lodge had been open-i'. at Ohakuno with every possible success ir store for it. P.P.G.M. Bro. Baniber drew attention to the fact that there was a fine- attached to Lodges neglecting to send delegates. C.S. Bro. Salek, in submitting his report, drew attention to tho neglect of some of tho secretaries in forwarding their balance-sheets and cheques for dues to the district. The Lodges should have this matter attended to and prevent-"a recurrence of the same. Advantage had been taken of tho visit of tho district officers to call a meeting of the Loyal Hautapu Lodge, at Taihape, and it was fully expected that the visit would result in tho Lodge being placed upon a firm footing. The district balance-sheet (which appears in another column) was read and adopted. The C.S. reported upon the investigation of the Loyal Manchester Lodge by Bros. Salek and Watson An alteration of the system of bookkeeping was recommended. A letter was read from the Loyal Manchester Lodge, taking exception to tho report.

The report was received. Bro. Mowlem pointed out that the matter should be decided by the district officers and not by tho delegates. Tho G.M. stated that they preferred to have tho matter dealt with by tho delegates. A letter was read from the Loyal Manchester Lodge asking for permission in connection with the investment of certain funds in making additions to hall property.

Bro. Allen gave an explanation in reference to the investment of some of tho funds in making additions to the hall property. Bros. Jones and Mingins also spoke upon the affairs of the Lodge. Bro. Watson referred to the details of tho report. After Bro. Barber had supported the roport, Bro. Nix moved its adoption, which was- seconded by Bro. Shannon and carried.

The Prov. G.M. drew attention to the fact that thanks were duo to the Loyal Manchester Lodge for_ thus drawing the district's attention to. the necessity of a book-examiner. Bro. Sherson moved, Tliat a reply be sent to tho Loyal Manchester Lodge to tho effect that tlio roport was warranted. —Seconded by Bro. Copeland, and carried. A letter was received from a member who- had been expelled from his lodge, notifying his intention of appealing to the district. Resolved —That the appellant bo notified that ho would be allowed to appeal to the next district meeting if he so desired, or in the event of the appellant being prepared to deposit the cost of a special meeting, the same will be held.

Bro. Shannon moved, That an account of the official report of the Medical Conference havin.fr appeared in the Friendly Societies' Gazette, the C.S.'s report bo taken as read. — Seconded by Bro. Espiner, and carried. On the .motion of Bro. Sherron, it was decided to hold over nomination of officers for the central body until the annual meeting. Resolved —That Bro. Watson be appointed book-examiner for the ensuing term. Bn* Sherson proposed Bro. J. Hodges for Prov. G.M. Deputy Grand Master —Bros. H. Sharman, R. W. Beadnall, W. Allen, E. Haytor.

The 'Lodge balance-sheets were received and adopted. The Loyal Mataroa Lodge applied for permission to purchase a build-ing.—-Permission was given. Bro. Sharman moved, That tho necessary permission bo given to Loyal Manchester Lodge for invest£283 in -improvements to hall. — Seconded by Bro. Hickson and car--11 Bro. Haytor moved, That the next district meeting be held at Kimbolton. —Seconded by Bro. Nix, and car"llesolved. That the Loyal Kimbolton Lodge be provided with a photo G.M. Bro. Tliurgood authorised tho C.S. to procure cash-books through Watson and Eyre. . Resolved. That- additional copies of \he Friendly Societies' Gazette be of 8d to the Funeral and Is 3d to Management Fund were i agreed to. ' Accounts were passed tor payment.
