WESTLAND VALUATIONS.
RAISED BY THE COURT.
Per Press Association, HOKITIKA, June 9. During the last four days the Assessment Coari has been engaged rethe county of Westland. A feature of the proceedings was the fact that in one i : .ng the County Council entered 255 objections on the ground that the valuation was too low, and esreept in two instances the objections were successful, and the total valuation of the riding in question was increased by about £27,500. The settlers showed a good deal of opposition, and attended in force. The proceedings excited a large amount of local interest. Mr Good, inspecting valuer, was present, and fought to sustain the local valuer's estimate?; in opposition to the efforts of the local brvlj to have the values raised. The Council engaged outside and local experts to support its case.
