"THE MIDNIGHT WEDDING."

Theatre goers still retain pleasant recollections of the presentation of the musical drama, " The Fatal Wedding," at the Opera House, this time last year, Mr Harcourt Beatty, who makes his reappearance as star of this organisation, will be best remembered as leading man for Miss Nellie Stewart, when '' Sweet Nell of Old Drury" was played throughout New Zealand, and for his splendid presentment of King Charles in that play. Mr Beatty will make his reappearance in Palmerston in an entirely new play which has attained great popularity throughout England and Australia. It is described as a romantic military drama, entitled', " The Midnight Wedding," and must not be confused with its predecessor, "The Fatal Wedding," which it in no way resembles. " The Midnight Wedding " is said to sparkle with military glory throughout, whilst it tells a stirring story of love and hate. Excellent opportunities for magnificent stage dressing are afforded, as the author introduces royalty, nobility, the army and the Church into the plot. In the selection players Messrs Meynell and Gunn have been fortunate in having a company of versatility and ability. No more popular engagement could have been made than that of Mr Harcourt Beatty, and as Paul Valmar in " The Midnight Wedding," he is claimed to have a part which suits him exactly. All the old favourites are still with the company, and are excellently cast in the new drama. " The Midnight Wedding" is limited to two _ nights only, when there will be a revival for two nights of the famous musical drama, "The Fatal Wedding," in which the 30 children of the " tin-can band" will appear, introducing new songs and dances. The box plan opens at Park's, on Wednesday morning next for the entire season, and the season of four nights will commence at the Opera House on Monday evening next, and continue during Show ■week.
