DOWN THE LINE.
(From our own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Friday. A meeting was held last night at Te Horo to consider the advisability of erecting a town hall. There was a large attendance, and Mr Frank Locker occupied the chair. After discussion it was decided to erect a building, but whether a town hall or mechanical institute was not decided upon, it being left in the hands of Mr W. H. Field to give advice, many of those present stating if an institute a Government subsidy would be available. Mr E. C. Thomas was elected secretary pro tem., and with Messrs L. Nodine, Short, Cooper and Jolly appointed a committee to canvass the district for subscriptions. It- was also resolved to write and ask Mr Carnegie what help he would give if a library was started in connection with the new proposal.
