It occurs in three forms, bubonic, sej)ticaemic and pneumonic plague. MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr Deakin states the Government is unlikely to submit a list of measures when Parliament meets. Defence and immigration proposals will be submitted in connection with the Budget statement. Tin late Dr. Paton's funeral was a representative one. Mr Deakin, in condoling with the family, regretted that a Cabinet meeting prevented his attendance at the funeral. The half-yearly report of the Victoria Insurance Co. shows a profit of £2290. An interim dividend of 2s per share is declared, and £13,921 is carried forward. The chairman said the loss was heavier than usual during the half-year. This was principally owing to New Zealand, where insurance business had not been profitable.
