MR McNAB'S RESEARCHES.
The article we published yesterday from the pen of Mr E. McNab, M.H«E.», an the subject of the early history of New Zealand has been read, we are informed, with great interest in this district. In it Mr MpNab gave some indication of the progress lie is making with his selt-imposed task of collectinginformation on this engrossing topic. At the cpst of great personal effort and the expenditure of unbounded enthusiasm Mr McNab has visited Europe and America seeking out the early records of visits to this colony. He has discovered manuscripts of surpassing interest and value which throw light on the " days before the dawn" in New Zealand. Such articles as that published yesterday and that which will appear to-morrow, will cause Mr McNab's promised book to be eagerly anticipated. If his work creates a desire amongst the people of New Zealand, and especially amongst the young New Zealanders, to know more of their own history, and to learn something of the noble deeds of Maoriland's pioneers, then Mr McNab's labour will not have been in vain.
