Cup Matches.
Play in the second round of the championship was begun on tho Sportsground on Saturday afternoon last. The principal and most interesting game was the one P.F.C. v. OLD BOYS. This contest had been looked forward to with much eagerness. The wicket was in very good order, this fact being taken advantage of to the full by Old Boys (who batted first). Ongley, who made the top score of 42, was in really good form, while Barraud, with 82, also played very well. The next highest score was that of Oakley with 25. The bowling of Bartlett proved deadly to many batsmen, as the table below will show. P.F.C., team A, were not very successful in their innings, all being disposed of for 43. Stevenson was the only one to reach double figures, his score being 14. The residue all went out for scores of small dimensions. Ongley and Hill did all the bowling in this innings.
