(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Per Press Association.) SYDNEY, January 29. The Darling Harbor garin handlers' strike is practically ended, and some of the men have returned to work. Heavy storms, accompanied by a phenomenal rainfall, have occurred in the Carcoar and Blayney districts. Much injury has been done to crops and property and many buildings seriously damaged. BRIS BANE, Jan. 29. Mr Milward, Chief Electrician for the Pacific Cable Company, arrived here by tho Miuwera on his annual tour of inspection. He says the cable is working exceedingly well and that traffic is satisfactory as far as it went. At an early date changes will ba made regarding the handing in of messages the placing of the Pacific cable on the same footipg as that of the Extension Company. He considers the cable companies have nothing to fear from wireless telegraphy as there is a great deal of uncertainty about the system ; also that it is much slower, though it should prove useful when applied to isolated places, where there is insufficient inducement to lay a cable.
