Manawatu v. Bush Union.
The rep. match played yesterday on the Show grounds between Manawatu and the Bush Union resulted in an easy win for the home team by 20 points to 8. The visitors were represented by a fairly strong team but they sadly lacked combination. Individual; excellence was strongly in evidence at the beginning of the game, while condition lasted, the visitors pressing the "homo team sorely till Potier scored for them and also added the major points. Manawatu awakened and carried the,ball into Bush territory, where a neat try was scored through the agency of Kinzett and Baker, the latter grounding. Hewitt missed the kick at goal. At half time Manawatu were two points behind their opponents. With the change of ends the state of affairs also changed, the home team simply leaving their opponents and piling up 17 more points at very short order, though, in one desperate effort, the 'visitors managed to secure another try, principally through a fumble by the Manawatu fullback, Hewitt. Tries for Manawatu were scored in the second spell by Kinzett, P. McMinn, Stalker, Scott and Ongley, and only one of them was - converted by Johnston, though half the team were tried in the various attempts. Rowlings scored for the visitors in the second half.
