Harry Palmer and Co. report as follows: —We had a good yarding of all lines with rising prices. There was keen competition for all classes of pigs which were of good average quality, breeding sows in particular being eagerly bought up, and pre3eat indications show the demand to be unlimited. Wo quote:— Breeding sows 85s, 555, 58s, 85s, 90s, 935, 100s, porkers light 22s 6d to 275, heavy 28s to 355, slips and stores 15s to 21s, weaners 8s to 14s 6d, (the latter being a splendid line of half-bred Tainworths), ducks 5s to 7s 6d, drakes 2s 6d to 4s each, cockerels 4s to 5s 6d, young hens 3s 6d to 6s 6d, mixed sorts 3s to 3s 6d, turkey hens 3s 6d to 5s each, gobblers 5s 6d to 7s 6d each. Prime Derwents are now getting a scarce commodity and buyers can lo k forward to ! fancy prices in the near future. Our present quotations run from 17s to 20s, per sack, pig potatoes unobtainable 'at any price, carrots at 33 per sack, mangolds 2s to 3s 6d, swedes 2s 6d to 3s, chaff 2s Gd to 3s 6d, oats 2s 9d per bushel, wheat 4s to 4s 6d, barley 2s 6d, hay 3s truss, cabbages 2s 6d to 4s 6d sack, cauliflowers 2s 6d to 3s 6d dozen, onions, scarce, 2Jd per lb, bacon 5d to 7d. We held a clearing sale on account of Mr W. F. Davis, everything being sod at satisfactory prices. His herd of 20 cows sold at from £4 5s to £1 10s, with an average of close on £6 ; fowls 3s 6d to 5s 9d, breeding sows £B 14s j .to £5 103, sundries at good prices.
