Coursing.
The almost incessant rain and hail that fell during the morning exerted a very depressing effect upon the attendance at the coursing meeting to-day, vcrj' few people being present when the first course took place. Since the last meeting the Club has very materially improved the. ground by levelling the hill at the bottom of the ground where the hares arc liberated, and also by filling, in where necessary. It was fully one o'clock before sport commenced, at which time the rain had ceased and there was some prospect of a fine afternoon. •
Mr J. Mitchell (Oamaru) was judge and Mr L. Price (Wellington) slipper. The Club's officials ■were assiduous in their attention to details, and the meeting, bar the unpleasant weather, promises to be most successful.
