Mr If. Maclean wrote with reference to the establishment of a Stamp and branch Deeds, Registration iv Palmerston. The matter, and that of a chief post office in Palmerston, it was stated by the Chairman, had been before ilie Chamber for a long time past. cuss • matters in connection with the proposed dairy school in Palmerston, the acceleration of the completion of the Main Trunk railway and the suggestion that Government raiLway workshops be established here. Mr Hurley referred to the necessity that exisied for au all night and Sunday service in the Tolephoae Exchange. He referred to the previous steps that had been taken in this dirtction and said that up to the present nothing had been htard from bir Joseph Ward as to the anomaly that existed in the charges made, viz., for an all-night service tradespeonle had to pay £2 10s per year, while private people had nothing extra to pay. Mr Wood said that Sir Joseph Ward had said that only those people desiring the additional service would have to pay for it.

Mr Hurley said there was a misunderstanding as to the conversations alluded to with Sir Joseph.
