Accidents and Fatalities.
The deaths are announced at Otaki of Mr Thos. McCleiand, and Mr James Woods, the latter being licensee of the Telegraph Hotel.
Mr McCleiand, wbo was oged 84 years, was in business in Wellington in' the early days aa a bootmaker.* He removed to Otaki in 1880, where he continued in the same line of business until a few years ago *ben old age compelled him to leave the trade. Deceased was married twice. His first wife came out to the colony with him, and died come 28 yearß ago. As the outcome of this marriage, three children were born, Mrs Oak, of Levin, Mr T. McCleiand, of Wellington, and tbe late Mr W. H. MoOleland. His second wife, who survives him, is a sister to Mr W. Webber, and there are ten children in the second family—Mr 3. McCleiand, of Hawke's Bay, and two unmarried sop.3, Mrs A. E. Anderson, of Otiaki, Mrs McWilliam, of Palmerston North, Mrs Beale, of Auckland, and four unmarried daughters. Mr Woods was found dead in bed on Monday morning. Deceased was an botelkeepor for many years in various parts of Canterbury, Otago, 'Wellington. Ngp-hauranga, and took charge of the Telegraph Hotel at Otaki a few years ago. His death will be heard of with much regret by friends all over the colony. The late Mr Woods leaves a wife, and oae daughter and three sons, allunmarri.d.
