Poverty Bay Show.

(Per Press Association), GISBORNE, October 25. The Poverty Bay A. and P. Show commenced today in fine weather, and with a good attendance. The show is': the bess yet held, the entries totalling ovor one thousand. Visitors express astonishment at the excellent quality of the stock shown. Mr Oarringfcon's Prince Arthur was the best draught entire, and in blood entries Mr Thompson 'a Sabretache was awarded first honours. In sheep Romneys were in a majority, Lincolns being few in number. Mr McKenzie showod the champion Romney ram. In cattle, the best bull waa Mr C.Gray's, bred by Archdeacon Williams. Sheep and cattle were not up to the average in number, though the quality was high. The chief features of the show were the horse classes, especially those for harness and saddle. Holden Bros, won th. prize for the champion cow. A. McKenzie secured championship in sheep classes. A number of sheep shown were quite disappointing. King Jimmy again won the hunter competition out of twelve entries. The judge declared the troop horses to be the best seen on any show ground m New Zealand. Witter Bros, won first and second prizes with Bugler and Starheht out of seventeen entries. For polo ponies E. Monekton's Lame won first prize, and Mr A. C. Sheriff won first and second for pony, driven by a I lady. The tandem team fell to Redstone and Son. Mercantile firms made a splendid display of implements. The weather does not look welljfor the people's day.
