Accidents and Fatalities.

Messrs Albert Goodman, Ed. Rowling and William Owen left Riwaka on Saturday evening on a fishing excursion in a£boat. On returning, in the evening, the boat capsized a mile and a half from the wharf while jibbing. J. F. McNab went to the rescue and got Owen and Rowling into a second boat after much difficulty. The two former were tied to ropes, but there was not enough rope for Goodman. The latter had been held for ten minutes, but Owen and Rowling became utterly exhausted and had to let go and Goodman was drowned. None of the men could swim. The body was recovered 30yds from the accident. The deceased leaves a widow and children. An inquest is proceeding.
