Sporting.
An amusing incident occurred at a j recent Alexandra Park (England) meeting, where J. Dillon, the rider of Capressi, who ran second in'the Manor Welter, was found to be considerably more than 21b overweight, with the inevitable result that the mare: was disqualified and lost her place money. As less than half an hour before the boy had weighed out correctly, and as owing to his hot ride he came in bathed in perspiration, the officials were quite at a loss to account for the discrepancy, till the youngster admitted that just before mounting he had polished off a bottle of iced ginger-beer. Had the horse won there-would)probably have been a lot of grumbling about the matter, but as it was, people only laughed.
