The N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Palmerston North, report as follows:—

During the week regular sales have been held at Himatangi, Kimbolton, Apiti,. and Palmerston North, and clear-, ing sales of dairy stock on behalf of Mr Hartley, of Colyton, and Mr J. Bassett, of Ashhurst.

The recent wet weather has had a somewhat depressing effect on all. sales, very few sheep have come forward and there- have been" comparatively small yardings of cattle. 'AX '_.' t/, ;.-; .-. /. At HimJEitogi'tiiere -nras'a small entry with'a fsLir/attendance/of lbuyers. Business was. rather, slack under the hammer but a good clearance was afterwards effected in favour of the vendors.

At Kimbolton only. a few lines came forward and'a, total clearance was effected." '• - " " .

At Apiti we had a fair entry, the bulk of which was / sold at market rates, a good line of ewes with lambs at foot making 27s 6d.

At Palmerston there was a good entry of cattle, consisting principally of grown bullocks. Cattle" were generally a little better, and-most pens were quitted at satisfactory prices. At Mr Hartley's sale of dairy stock there was a good attendance and a good sale resulted, cows selling up to £8 2s 6d.

At Mr Bassett's dairy sale on Wednesday, in spite of the. rain,- there was a good /attendance and the cows, which were hv splendid condition, sold up to £10256 d.

Cattle: Yearlings, £2, £2 ss, £2 15s; springing heifers, £4 15s to £5; store cows, £3 to £3 9s 6d; cows incalf, £4 ss; springing cows, £5 10s; Polled Angus bulls. £7 10s. ■ Palmerston North.—Weaners, 295; yearlings, £2 ss; empty heifers, £3 Is, £3 3s, £3 8s; cows in calf, £4 2s 6d. to £4 10s; 3-year steers," £5 10s; 3 and 4-year bullocks, £6 ss; bulls, £2 10s.
