Pohangina Notes.

The exceptionally, cold and wet weather we have been getting of l,ite has caused much complaint amongst stock owners. Mr R. A. Port was very unfortunate, losing about forty hoggets which were recently shorn. The roads are also in a bad state slips and washouts causing a lot of extra work. It is considered the wo-st weather for the month of October that has been known.

The river iust above the proposed Driage site has encroached considerably and if some substantial protective worts' are not put m hand very soon the ferry, ford crossing will be considerably altered.

Mr Maunder has commenced to erect anew creamery at Kaumai. It has been deemed to close the Dairy Union's Rauma} creamery at the end of this month and Messrs Nathan and Co. curpese having their new one ready for receivine milk by the Ist of November. b On Saturday last a meeting of the Domain Board was held. PresentMessrs P. Sinclair. W. Lucas, J. Shad, bolt, and A. A. Wagst-iff A copy of the amendment to the Domain Board's Act was received from the Minister of Lands. It was dis- . covered that a new clause was.inserted to the effect that those members of Domain Boards who had sat for seven years had to vacate their seats but were eligible for re-election, and as Messrs Wagstaff and Shadbolt were elected'in June, 1897, and Mr Spiers had left the district, jt was decided to call a public meeting of residents on Saturday night at 8 pm. in the Public Hall to-elect three members to sit upon the Board A much felt want in the township is a local J.p. There is not one resident withra six miles, and much inconvenience is caused at times when papers require a Justice's signature.
