"Ihe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. repdl-t :--I)Hrine the week we have hold sales at Himitangi and Palmerston iNoi-th, and, also, clearing sales oa behalf oi Messrs T. and F. McEwen and W; S. Stallard. "'.
At Himitangi there was a good yarding of cattle, but only three pons oi sheep, came forward).. .'. Competition was keen for all classes of young cattle and good dairy heifers, and a good sale resulted, pracVically ihe. whole yarding- being quitted at'satisfactory prices.
At Palmerston North-ve had a heavy ja'rdmg- 0 f cattle, stock coming .forward greatly i n excess of advertised numbers.. The yarding consisted almost entirety of young cattle, fenial-e sorts. Yearlings and IS-months met . with very keen demand, and were all sold under the hammer. Dairy cows were somewhat, neglected, and there was- very little enquiry for old cows.
At Messrs- T. ; and F s McEwens sale, at the yards, on Tuesday, there was not a very large attendance of the . public, 'but a fair sale resulted considering the condition of the stock. Cows sold up to £10 15s, the herd., including a number of backward looking cows, averaoih"' £6 2s 6d., - . . : .-. °
At Mr W. ; S. ; Stallar.d's sale on Wednesday, there was a large attendance of the public, and his cows, which were a particularly fine lot., dicited keen competition, realising; the respectable average' of £9 Ss Gd. The heifers and young cattle sold reremarkably well.
