The twelfth annual ball .rf'ilie,Manawatu Mounted Rifles, held st the. Lyceum Theatre last. night, proved an unqualified 'success in every particular. The hall had been! gaily decorated with Hags, flowers and evergreens, and' presented a .picturesque, appearance that was heightened to a degree by the charming costumes worn by many of the ladies present and the military uniforms. The floor -was in excellent condition and the function was most enjoyable, a> fact to which the assiduous attentions of the officers of the company to the pleasure of their guests contributed very materially;..
