Accidents and Fatalities.

Auckland, May 25.
A serious accident occurred at a new buildiog being ereotod in "Wakefisldstrset. Two men, Henry Smith and Eichatd Davis, were onrying.a plank across some newly-laid rafters on the top storey, 30ft from the basomnm, when Davies, instead oi stepping on to tbe rafter, walked clean over it Bnd fell through, dragging with hsm his companion. They wero in a;serious state when picked np. Dr* Frost, who was summoned, finding that one had sustained a fracture of the ba?e of the skull and the other an injury to Mb spine. Both wero taken to ihe hospital.
