Railway Traffic.
Excepting the Palmcrston-Wrtnga-nui section, all the railway lines running to Palmerston were clear this morning, ' though travelers report that everywhere effects of the recent heavy rain were to be seen in the shape of bank-high rivers and overflowing watercourses.. The Makerua swamp was a sheet of water.
The Wanganui line was interrupted in the Wangaehu-Yalley,' this portion of ..the line being- considered unsafe for traffic^ The morning, ti am from Palmerston had therefore to.re. turn, some of the passengers coming back with it. It reached PalmeiTston at 12.45 ,p>m. The express went through as usual at midday on the chance of getting over the dangerous portion of the line. =
