Maori Girls' School.
(Per Press Association). Auckland, May 22. A very successful fete and bazaar in aid of the funds of the VicDofia Schoul for Maori girls was openod at Bishop's Court yosterday afternoon by the Governor in the presence of a large attenaacoe. Speeches were made by his Excellency/Bishop and Mrs Neligan, and a Maori address was presented to the Governor by the natives of tho district. The fete was arranged and carried out almost entirely by the Maoris themselves and the principle of self-help thu3 apm Waa t? le kovnotiQ cf tho speeches. Mrs Neligan, president of the Victoria Association for helping Maori women and girls, stated that so far fourteen scholarships of £20 each had been obtained for the school, twelve from different parts of JNew Zealand and two from England, ihreo of the scholarships were for three years, and it was expected that others also would be continuous. Lord Ranfurly made a strong; point of the necessity of looking after Maori boya a™. girls after they left school, and Mrs Weligan said the Victoria Assooiation nad this matter in hand.
