An Important Point.
(Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 23 An important principle is contained in a motion which oanie before the Chief justice and Mr Justice Cooper to-day relating to the production of documents essential to the plaintiff in the suit Cook v. the Union Company, arising out of the Itotomahana-Jessio Niccol collision. -2. orc'er had been made, at plaintiff s instance, for . the discovery of documents, and subsequently Kennedy, the Wellington manager of the Union Company, made an affidavit in which privilege was claimed for certain documents, including the reports made by the captain of tho Kotomahana on the graund that they were confidential. The Court reserved decision on the point until Wednesday.
