BRISBANE, March 16. The Tinana had a difficult task in rescuing the Aramac as a mountainous sea was running. After great trouble >a 'dingjfo/y managed to get a 'hawser aboard. The 'boat was smashed on the side of tfiie s-hip when returning, 'but the occupants were hauled, aboard..

The. Aramac slipped her anchor arid the Tinana, against a 'head wind and a 'heavy sea, towed 'her into smooth water.

Captain Butcher and tlho others aboard the Aramac had a 'bad time. After the boats left the seas increased in force. He did not expect to last through the night but cx^pected to go to the -bottom.

The Tin-ana arrived just in time, as the water was gradually gaining, the deck pumps only being available to keep if down.

Most of the cargo is in good order, including two 'horses. The Aramac's Rockfaampton- cargo will •be lightered and then, probably, the steamer will 'be beached and examined. If it is thought she will stand the strain she will be brought to Brisbane and 'docked.

One of the occupants of tine fifth boat, which was picked up off Gatcombe Heads, states their ■boatdrifted north in company vrith- the boatswain's boat. The two remained, moored to a raft till Monday morning when the filith boat which is still missing. All are well, cast adrift, leaving the 'boatswain's, The missing boat contains eighteen men. only.

Received March 16, at 1.27 p.m. The Barcoo arrived at Cape Capricorn with the Aramac's sixth boat. All the Aramac's nassengcrs are ■now saved.
