The Kairariga County Councilheld its monthly meeting'to-day. Present— Crs. Were Nathan, Hanson, Voss, "Moody, and Greer. An apology for absence was received from the Chairman, Cr. Luxford. Or Were was voted to the chair. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Treasury, stating that £902 7s 4d had been remitted to the Board's credit. From the Treasury, -provisionally approving loans ' for Cameron's Road, Hamilton's Road, and Milcrick's Line at 4 per cent. From the Treasury, stating that fin amending Bill was now before Parliament whereby all loans at" 3.V per cent, will be abolished, as the Government would charge the minimum rate and currency for tihe future at 4 per cent, for 41 years.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Treasury and to the member for the district in reference, to the matter and -if the Treasury could not waive its objection to a 3£- per cent loan, the clerk to proceed de novo with new loans at 4 per cent.

From Oroua' County Council, claiming £14 11s, one-third of the Council's costs re Mangaone Commission.—Received, no action taken. _ .. From John Wilcox, asking that the road frontage to her property at I Bunnythorpo ; also, asking that the. road fronting sections 1361, 1363, 1365, Bunnythorpe, be culvcrted and metalled.—Foreman to make estimate of cost. From eight residents, calling attention to the state of the road leading ta section 1441, Bunnytkorpe. It was decided to' advise the settlers to have the road completed (by loan money. From J. Denson, calling attention to state of Creamery Road, Bunnythorpe.—The road to be repaired. From Messrs Palmer and Pearcc, stating, that theyi were desirous of placing a tram-line across Ngawhakarau Road at] once.—No action taken, pending completion of metalling, contract. REPORTS. Foreman Hocking's report stated that most of the roads in the Kairangia Riding were in good order Large numbers of cattle were destroying the willows at the Awahuri protective works. It was decided to fence off the willows, and the overseer was instructed accordingly.

Foreman Home reported Unit a. groin had been put in the Manawatu River, near the Cliff Road, (36 feet from the shore at right angles to the "bank. Since commencing this- work, the river had deposited a shingle bed where there was five feet of water. He recommended that the Kahuterawa Bridge, Main road west, be attended to.

The ranger reported that 54 hoad of cattle and horses had been impounded during September.

MISCELLANEOUS

It was decided that Mr Armstrong be asked -to 'deliver to the overseer all unused material in connection, with the Awahurf bridge protective works, together with list of same.

It was decided. to notify Milverton and Son to at once proceed with their Ngawhakarau road motailing contract, failing which tho work will be taken over and completed at their expense. The clerk reported accumulated fines, in connection with the contract, totalled £903, being at the rate of £<t 10s per day from April last. A petition was presented from settlers in the Tititea district,' asking the Council to take the necessary steps to borrow £400 for the construction of a bridge over the Tiriteal at Munro's crossing, their properties to be rated to provide the necessary interest, tho duration of the loan to be 40 years. It was 'decided to. give effect to. the petition. .

Ordinary accounts were passed for payment.

Fifty-five applications were received for the post of engineer to the Council, which went into committee, after the luncheon adjournment, to consider them.
