(Per Press Association—Copyright) . Received to-day at 7.37 a.m. ; CAPETOWN, Yesterday. Sir Alfred Lawrey, LieutenantGovernor of the Transva.il, has rejected the Dutch Reformed Church petition, asking for the control of the Government schools, to be transferred to elective school boards. The Synod is now discussing means for establishing pri--vate schools, devoting more time to teaching Dutch.
