(From Oar Own Correspondent). The children were honoured by a fall ho\ise last evening on the occasion of their entertainment in aid cf School Piano Eund, and both teachers and pupils are to be complimented on the success attending their efforts. In the absence of the Chairman of the Committee, Mr E. Curry opened the concert with a few rewarks. The overture was played by Miss Jessie Baker, and then followed in quick succession infant songs, rounds, recitations, dialogues, boys' dumb bell exercise?, girls' garland drill (encored), and musical selectirms by Misses Maclean, Maxwell, -'The Rival Speakers" by IT. Allington iindß. Leiz, was very amusing, and "Pat and the Magistrate" by A. Euffi and W. Arnold was also well Riven. In "Bo Peep," the fairies and their queen (Viole&Nissen) all looked charming and behaved as kindly .as any fairies could. Miss Jeanie Smith both sang .and acted in her part as "ISo Peep" very nicely, and Connie Maclean fairly revelled in her part as " Mischief." They were frequently applauded. The meeting closed by all present joining in singing the National Anthem '
Mr.John Dougherty, of Part Chalmers, when crossing the staging between the Tarau-era, and the shore, at about 8.30 last evening, fell into the dock and was killed.
