Manawatu Cricket Association.

The annual meeting of tho Manawatu Cricket Association was held last evening in Messrs Brophy and Mowleai's office, Mr F. E. Watson presided. Six affiliated clubs were represented.

The following officers were elected :— Patron, Mr W. T. Wood; president, Mr F. E. WatsoD; vice-presidents, Rev. C. 0. Harper, Messrs J. P. Innes, Jj. Simmons, Palmer, Vernon, Friberg, Cohen, Hodder, A. J. Graham, J. M. Johnston, A- Strang, and Dr Graham ; auditors, Messrs Birsch and Colling wood; secretary, Mr Enos Peglcr ! treasurer, Mr Hammond.

A hearty vote of' thanks was passed to Mr Jiegltr for services rendered tbf> association bs secretary.

Resolved that the Eankins Cup be allotted to the seniors for competition, and the Masssy, Harris Cup to the juniors, both to be held annually. Tbo next meeting of tho association will be lield on Monday evening at 8 o'clock.

Tho Broad-street Church was packed so full that the gallery had to be used last night at tbe evangelistic service held by the Tonks Brothers. Mr Enoch Tonks gave an earnest address on " Prepare to meet thy God." The rehearsals of the Operatic Society will be resumed this evening. The male members of the Society will meet at the Orient Hall at 8.30 to-night, and tomorrow night the whole Society will rehearse " Utopia" in iho Lyceum Theatre, while on' Friday night " The Mikado " will be put in hand. These rehearsals will commence at 7.80 punctually. A. number of the staff at tho local railway station met at the Masonic Hotel last night, the occasion being the presentation of a handsome marble clock to Mr W. Bradley, one of the most popular guards on the Manawatu Company's line, who is about to ba married. Tbe presentation was made by his Worship thd Mayor, in a very neat and happy speech. Mr Wopd said the gift was positive proof that tbe reci ient was held in the highest esteem by the Palmerston staff, and wished Mr Bradley and bis foturo wife all health and happiness. Mr Bradley, in warmly expressing his thanks, said ho always hoped to work in harmony with members of the Government staff. Son s were contributed by Messrs Browning Murdoch, Neill, Gavey, Downey, McKearney end Hutchinson, tho accompaniments being supplied by Messrs 'Woods, Muirhoad, aud Murdoch, and a very pleasant gathering concluded with " Auld Lang Syne " and cheers loe Mr Bradley.

The annual meetirjg of the Fruitgrowers' Association is fixed to be heia at the 'Fire Brigade Hall on fc'atur ay evening next. AH who take an interest in horticultural matters, as well as mem-' bera, are invited to be present.
