The polioe are still making enquiries into the. late jewellery robbery at Mr Scott's, Manohester-street.. I trust they will be successful in finding the thieves.
I wonder what is the matter with the monumenj; in the Square. It has been left half finished for over a fortnight. The gas pipes are fixed, and tied together with string. I do not know if they are to be left thus, bnt it is time the work was finished and lit at nignt, for as It is at the present time it is protected by four pieces of wood and two kerosene lamps to keep it from being run into. '
The Bangitikei races take plaoe today. There are a good number of Feilding sports going over. May they have a good timerTho Feilding Athletic Club meet this evening to elect a committte and tranr snot general business.
" Quail must be very plentiful in the country distriots. I saw ono quite tame in one of ihe squares this morning, and it seemed to be quite at homo.
