Obituary.
We (Manawatu Farmer) regret to announce the death of Mr Eeotor McDonald, Native interpreter, of Levin, who after a three months' illness, died on Sunday, at the age of 46, at Horowhenua. The deceased was one of the best known settlers on this coa^, having been born and i eared at Horowhenua. His father was one of Iho colony's earlic t settlers, and, with his family, parsed through the troublous days with the Dative race, but he always had a wide and good influence with them. Hi« family consequently shared with him, and Hector taw several exciting scenes. His thorough knowledge of the Maoris and tbiir customs gavo him a good standing as a native interpr-.ter, and he was always in request among the native raoe. Tub late Ifr McDontld wai a brother-in-law of Mr McDonnell, of Pa'.mereton North, aud of Hon. J. Bigg, M.L.C.
