A good point was made hy Mr Haselden in the course of his comments on the North Island Main Fmnk Railway during tho financial Jebate. He was talking about the works being carried out to a certain extent and then left in a state of desolation, and to point out the c«n[lition of affairs quoted a letter sent to the Minister for Public Works by a .certain person who described a certain piece of country, so many miles which he app.licd to lease as a small with the right of renewal.
